HCG Phase


Phase two comes after the loading phase. This happens in the first week of the HCG diet. This is when the body will start to adjust to the uncommon amount of loading. Getting through the first week will give the biggest possibility to succeed for the rest of the diet duration. The major metabolic transition usually happens in the first week of the diet. It is when the system will adjust to burning fat for energy. The body will also start to be dependent on the HCG diet hormones. The hormones will break down as many fats as they can for energy supply.

What are the expected changes in the body?

There will be a breakdown of fats at a faster rate. It is to contribute to releasing of toxins that are from the stored fats. The fat will be used for energy instead of having food as the source. It is important to have plenty of water in the first week of the diet to help in flushing out toxins. You will undergo cleansing and other processes to prepare the body for more physical changes.

You may experience side effects of the hormones. This is normal in the first few days of the HCG diet because the body is still taking time to adjust. However, these typical symptoms will just be gone by having a proper rest and exact food choices. Consult a physician or inform the diet experts in case of persistent symptoms such as:

  • Cold-like symptoms
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Dizziness
  • Hunger Pangs

This is not the complete list of the side effect that may or may not come on the HCG diet. Stay hydrated always especially if you are already doing the VLCD. It will make you feel full and keep off the cravings. Drinking of water is an act of balancing. Consume enough amount of water without getting sick.

The first week also is a time that you will crave for sweet foods. This is a normal response of the body that is not used to diet and caloric cut down. One of the common cravings of the dieter is on how they would satisfy the sweet tooth. Sweets and sugars are not allowed on the HCG diet. It is the main thing that you must let go once you stepped into the diet. Each dieter must be wise in loading foods especially on the first week of the diet. This is to avoid loading improper foods.
